“...the most beautiful island in Scotland”

Longfield house and Cill a' Rubha are holiday cottages available throughout the year for lettings on the Isle of Colonsay. Approximately 60km from Oban on the west coast of Scotland, Colonsay is a magical island with wonderful beaches and scenery; wild flowers, birds, woodland, ancient ruins and very friendly people.

Longfield house

Longfield house

Located on the west side of Colonsay facing the bay of Port Mór and the open Atlantic, Longfield house is an excellent property for families and multi-generational holidays. With outstanding seaviews and amazing sunsets, it also affords remarkable opportunities for the natural historian.

Port Mór is one of the most reliable otter haunts in the island; with average strength binoculars one can easily view their activities from the sitting room windows. It is very convenient for walks to the sea-cliffs (which host the largest seabird breeding colony in the southern Hebrides), for the Golf Course, for trout fishing in Loch Fada and for walks to the Grey Atlantic Seal colonies in Ardskenish.

Reviews

This is my last full day on Colonsay and as I have had quite a few action packed days I thought I would sit and watch the comings and goings around Cill a’ Rubha. This is such a special place with lovely neighbours; a big thank you to Walter who has been my guardian angel this week; his beautiful cats, comical ducks, geese and hens... (I have just been watching a pair of drumming snipe overhead – what a fantastic accompaniment to breakfast – one of Walter’s golden duck eggs!) Of all the places I have explored on Colonsay, this one corner around the community of Uragaig will forever hold a special place in my heart...

Visitors book, Cill a' Rubha

This has been our 5th visit to Colonsay and our 3rd stay in Cill a’ Rubha, we were really looking forward to returning to such a lovely house. It was just as great as we remembered. Thank you Christa and Kevin for providing such great accommodation, again we have had a fantastic holiday. The island has a unique feel all of its own. You can be as relaxed or as active as you please. We’ve done a bit of both....

25 years of coming to Colonsay but my first time at Longfield. Definitely one of the best – a wonderful time, thank you!! Now that the family is “extending” we are very happy that we can share what has been for us such a special place and that it hits the spot for everyone! We were all here including, this time, partners – and the house couldn’t be better!

Visitors book, Longfield house

Perfect holiday accommodation – quality, location, value for money, excellent heating system, every piece of equipment you could need, comprehensive information pack for both house and island, plus the phone numbers of Kevin and Christa in case of any difficulty. What more can one ask for?
